Salomon Xr Crossmax Shoe

By , February 9, 2013 11:54 AM

Salomon Xr Crossmax ShoeSalomon shoes have been my go to shoe for over 15 years now. If you have a narrow foot with a high arch you won’t find a better fit. My favorite of Salomon’s shoe line has to be the Xr Crossmax. It has a super grippy tread for trail running yet is plenty comfortable for short city runs. The simplistic quicklace system works great and gives you a tight fit without even having to tie a knot. The mesh material in the toe box does a fantastic job at letting your feet breathe and keeps them dry even on the hottest days.

The durability of Salomon shoes is also very impressive. I easily get 3-4 years out of them before it’s time to retire them as my lawn mowing shoe. If you’re the type of person that would take a mountain run over a gym’s treadmill then make sure you try these shoes on. Your feet will thank you!

Salomon Rocker 2 Skis

By , December 10, 2012 10:31 PM

Salomon Rocker 2If you’re looking for a new board to blow your mind in deep snow then look no further. Salomon nailed it in the powder performance category with their Rocker 2 Skis.

With rocker in the tip and tail and a solid 122mm waist this is now my go to ski for powder conditions. Salomon’s honeycomb technology in the tip and tail combined with their decision to remove the edges from these areas have created a fat board with little swing weight. This results in a ski that can slash a turn with minimal effort making it ski-able for even beginners looking to get into the pow game.

Salomon also kept traditional camber underfoot to make it easier to hold an edge on hardpack. This ski can do it all, float in pow, rail on groomers, and blast through crud. So be sure to check these skis out! You won’t regret it.

Salomon BBR Ski

By , February 4, 2012 3:10 PM

Salomon BBR SkiIf you’ve been eying the Salomon BBR Ski come to Alta this Saturday and Sunday February 4 and 5 to take a spin on these great powder skis. They will carve like no other ski you’ve been on but we’ll let you be the judge of that.

Salomon designer, Berber created the BBR ski by being inspired through surfing, kite-surfing and gliding sports on snow and water. He designed the ski as a true powder ski that carves on-piste but an on-piste ski that floats in the powder.

The BBR is not designed as the typical X-shape but is designed with a new V-shape. This shape is modeled after the shape of a surf board. The tip of the ski is shaped similar to the tip of a surf board with a narrow waist and a pin tail. Basically you’ll be skiing on an over-sized surfboard like tip with a rocker shape that will allow you to float in the powder yet adapt to any terrain and conditions the mountain offers.

The narrow waist and pintail of the BBR, provide grip and playfulness on harder snow. You will be able to make short radius turns and short edge to edge turns while skiing on on-piste terrain. The beauty of this ski is you can take it over to a powder field and will be guaranteed great flotation. Salomon calls the BBR the ‘V’ shape because it’s literally two skis in one.

Join us up at Alta at the base of Collins lift this Saturday and Sunday to test out theSalomon BBR Ski and see if it will live up to its legend.

Salomon Czar Ski

By , December 11, 2009 10:08 PM

Salomon designed the Czar for those of us who live to ski powder but want one fat ski that is versatile enough to plow through the crud or carve the groomers when the pow fades away. It has a fat waist, a rockered tip and a traditional sidecut underfoot. The rockered tip, which starts 20 cms below the tip, provides excellent float, but not so much that you can’t still get faceshots. New for this season, the Salomon Czar comes in a 190cm length. It is also available in 166cm, 174cm and 182cm. The dimensions of the 182 are 131 / 111 / 121mm. Salomon used a wood core to give the Czar longevity and consistent flex. Word on the street is that you should mount these skis on the forward line for the best performance and that’s what we did. The Czar butters like you’ve always dreamed a ski should and it will help you rule the mountain like a Russian oligarch no matter what the conditions are.
