The lift lines today at Alta may have been the longest I have ever seen them. The Collins lift line at one point started to turn and wrap towards the Wildcat line, almost connecting the two. Waiting for 30 minutes to get on the lift was not out of the question. Thankfully once on top the skiing was fantastic! Baldy Shoulder and Backside opened before 10:15 a.m. and provided perfect conditions for powder turns and cliff hucking. The warm temps really thickened up the snow but, with 47 fresh inches it was hard to complain. At 11:30 a.m. a slide on Monte Cristo hit the road and closed Little Cottonwood Canyon for 4.5 hours. An inbounds slide at Snowbird in the Blackjack area was also reported with a partial burial. A high avalanche danger remains in effect for most aspects in the backcountry. Be careful!
